The 1865 Civil War Diary of Daniel W. Ware
The Blandford Historical Society is in possession of the diary of Daniel W. Ware who fought with Company H of the 10th Vermont Volunteers. In his January 1, 1865 entry he mentions Generals Grant and Meade passing by that evening. And then on April 11, shortly after the surrender at Appomattox Court House, he mentions that General Lee passed by that day. It is a fascinating look at one soldiers life in the final months of the war and then his return home.
