Percy Wyman
The Men and Women and of Blandford
In 1969, 80-year-old Percy Wyman sat down with a reel to reel tape recorder and talked about some of the more prominent men and women of Blandford that he remembered. There are mentions of Dr. Deane, Henry Herrick, Enos Boise, Mr. Tiffany, Mr. Bartlett, meeting Governor (later president) Coolidge, John and Russell Cooney, William Henry Harrison Blair, Fred and Byron Waite, Joseph Haley, Steven Bodurtha, Fannie Shepard, Miss Porter, Elba Tiffany, Laura Bell, Electa Watson, Fannie Shepard, Mrs. DeBraal and Aunt Mary (believed to be Mary (Wyman) Loring).
Percy also talks about planting corn and caring for it, then harvesting it and having Husking Bees.
Percy has a unique way of preserving his memories by putting them into poems and then reading them on to tapes. We are thrilled that he took the time to do this and thank Carol and Shelly Harris for sharing his recordings.
