April 30, 1872 Sarah washed in afternoon. I went up street. Called at Mr. Elisha S. He is confined to his bed with a broken bone in his leg. Paid him $5 for his services and advice, then went to Mr. Cooks and paid him 50 cts for carrying Libbie’s things to Sfd. Got a letter from Libbie. Sent one to Sul.

April 29, 1872 Feel rather depressed. H went to depot for meal.  April 28, 1872 George and Lissa brought baby. Hattie, Jennie and myself took care of babies in the forenoon and let the rest go to church. Wm come to drive home. *Lissa is her daughter, Melissa Herrick, married toGeorge Nye. Their first child was G. Arthur Nye, b. Dec. 19, 1871. *Jennie and Hattie were daughters of Mary’s son, Henry.  April 27, 1872 Emma brought Abbie home and staid all night. I let A have $15 to send for a new dress by Emma.  April 26, 1872 Very hot. H (Henry) went up to Joe Gibbs after a hog. Gone all day. I went down to Mr. O’s.  April 25, 1872 Sarah went and spent the day at her fathers. Curt getting out manure. H let the girls go with him to the W place..  April 24, 1872 Leonard Paterson(?) come and paid his note of $100 and ten months int. George and Liss come. Henry sold some of his hay and drawed some down home. Miss Betsy Moore died.  April 23, 1872 Froze hard last night. Real blustering this morn. I washed. Mr. Bartlett come and fixed the hatchway door.  April 22, 1872 Rainy in forenoon. Willy Bates got some boards. Isaac Richards has just been here, says Charlie is there. I have written to Mr. Fisk(?)  April 21, 1872 Charlie run away in the night. I have knocked the lantern down on my head and cut a hole so it bled some. Girls walked to church. Mr. And Mrs. Parks come down awhile.  |
