From the 1866 Diary of Mary Knox Herrick
Friday, March 2, 1866 Father, Libbie, Abbie, Bobi and I went to ? and went out to store. Got two dresses for Abbie. C’s babies sick with colds. Got home, Lib found two letters from her husband calling her home. *Libbie could be her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Herrick) Richards. I know that in 1870 Mary Elizabeth is living in Wilbraham so maybe for some reason that’s where Libbie’s husband is now and Lib has been living at home with her parents. Back on February 21 we had the strange post ‘Libbie’s breast caked.’ On Feb 16, ‘H brought Lib down with her baby.’
