Sugared off. Father went to Depot. Stormy in afternoon and night. They went down to sap place and worked till 10. Father fell and hurt his back.

Friday, March 30, 1866
Walked down to Mr. B’s funeral. Rode back with Mr. James Bs folks. Ed W was down. Father brought home the first syrup and we had it on to boil. Thursday, March 29, 1866
Very stormy all day. I quilted alone yesterday. Today the girls helped. Got it off. I went up to Festival. Got home at 1 at night. Liss birthday. 15 years. *Melissa Blair Herrick, born March 29, 1850. Wednesday, March 28, 1866
Mr. B. went down to Mr. Burdick. Got Em and Bell. They sent for Em to work on meeting house. Girls all went up to practice till late. Tuesday, March 27, 1866
The girls washed. Hired man got back. I put on quilt (?). Mr. George Burdick is killed by falling tree where he was chopping in woods. Mr. And Mrs. James Blair, Henry Blair and Mary Burton Smith… Monday, March 26, 1866
Awful cold. Girls did not wash. Father went to (?) twice with logs for (?). I worked on the lining for C’s quilt. Friday, March 23, 1866
Went up to funeral of Mrs. Todd. Wells brought down some pieces for quilt. Hired man gone home. Thursday, March 22, 1866
Mrs. Hatch and Mrs. Bell spent the afternoon. Dr. came. Had a call to Asa Culvers, hired man sick. Em cut Fred’s clothes. |
