Don’t feel as if I could work much. Father goes twice to Russell with wood and does his chores. I am mending his old pants. No hired man. Wrote a letter to Spd.

Tuesday, January 30, 1866
Father done all his chores and went to Russell with wood. Got a letter from Sule. Bell is there. I am sick tonight. *Sule is Ursula (Herrick) Hawes and lives in Springfield. Bell is probably 17 year old Isabella Herrick, sister of Ursula, daughter of Mary Knox Herrick. Monday, January 29, 1866
No hired man. Father gone to Granville to see about it. Got home about 3. Silas Burdick got home. Sunday, January 28, 1866
Went to church. A good many out. Em went out to ? After meeting. Eli gone home. Saturday, January 27, 1866
Hiram birthday. Girls washing. Lyman Cannon fixed the Melodion. Father drawing wood to depot. Got two gallons of molasses. Thursday, January 25, 1866
Finished cutting. It snows. Eli come and helped Father. I stuffed sausages. Em staid to Mr. L. W. Shepards. |
