The same men (came?) at noon. Mr. Burdick come. Father killed a calf. Bell went to visit Lucia school with Helen and Eunice.

Mr. J, Mr. L and Mr. Cook come to work on timber for barn. Em had a letter from Libbie. Monday, May 29, 1865
Rainy in morn but cleared away. Father and H been cutting and sawing more timber. Saturday, May 27, 1865
Father gone to Westfield with cider. Henry plowed our garden and planted it. He brought home some ? Made cheese. Thursday, May 25, 1865
(and back with Billy) Father in a fret. Carried off some calves. Mr. Jacobs here yesterday and today at work in cellar. Whitewashed, cleaned bedroom. Mrs. Blair come. Wednesday, May 24, 1865
I washed flannel sheets for (some time). Bell washed color clothes then whites and cleaned kitchen. Em rode over (and back with Billy) Tuesday, May 23, 1865
We brought up some heifers from (?) and sold two calves to Mr. Griswold. Bell and myself dug in front yd. Spun 1/2 run. Monday, May 22, 1865
Mr. Bowery died. Rainy. Bell washed white clothes and spread them out. Father carried Em to her school then he drew in two loads of boards ??? Sent a letter to Lule. |
