March 30, 1872
Mr. O and Frank at work putting on paper, patching up, etc. H went up and bought a seat in Church and brought down his stove, carpets, etc. I darned my carpet. Jim Clark come, paid 75 cts for cider he had last summer. March 29, 1872
Cloudy, looks like storm. Henry and Sarah went to Westfield to get paper stove pipe. (or, paper, stove pipe and c) Mr. P and L C at work. Spelman come. It rained some in the afternoon. I got a letter from Sule. H and S brought paper. Mrs. Culver buried. March 28, 1872
Mr. P and Frank here at work cutting stove pipe holes. White washing, painting. Wm and Emma come before dinner. Warm. Emma brought Abbie’s bank book. March 27, 1872
Mr. Parks come and Sarah and Abbie worked getting off the paper. George and Lissa com. I gave them 4 black? chickens, two for themselves and two for Wm folks. Henry gathering up wood. *George and Lissa are her daughter Melissa and son-in-law George Nye. March 26, 1872
Not very pleasant. Henry down and got the horses and went back with two teams. Come before dinner. Sarah came, brought their pig and ? their bedstead in the south room. Got a letter from Mrs. Lute. *Sarah is Henry’s wife. Since Henry got half of the farm in the will, it looks like he and his family are moving in. March 25, 1872
H brought down some things in the afternoon. He brought some of his stock. The girls helping drive. Mr. P and Frank C come too. *H is her son, Henry. March 23, 1872
I washed a bit but it is storming. Henry took 7 1/2 bushel of potatoes and some of his hay and carried to Russell. Hired man went up to his house. They brought back a ? of flour and other things. H carried the beefs hide but the man was not at home. .March 22, 1872
J packed up and went. Had to leave the sewing machine. After he had gone we found he had left several things. Not so cold. Quite pleasant. I had the boys bring four pails of water apiece. Isaac Richards come and hired one of the W pastures. |
