Lizzie, Abbie and Louise went to church. Lizzie come home. James and myself in the afternoon were late. Mr. Perkins son of the late Justin P, missionary to Persia. Oh such a lonesome, sad feeling. I so miss him.

Pleasant. We are about finishing the carpet rags, twisting and winding in the midst of which John and Betsy Parks come. James got home just after dark. Had an excitement with Charlie’s conduct. J took him to the barn and settled with him. February 16, 1872
Got up very early. J fixed off with a load of goods for Wilbraham. I fixed a comfortable for Libbie. Charlie cut a piece of sole leather out of a side to put heel pieces on his boots. It troubles me he is getting very independent. February 15, 1872
J went to Depot with his boy and C went out to Mr. Oatleys. Got sausage stuff and some …? Then we colored the w? And some more rags. C and Abbie filled sausages. I carried C home and James. February 14, 1872
Snowed last night and blowed. James went to W place and drawed up the hemlock bark. Mr. O brought C down to make sausages. I (or G) ? rags and colored ? and washed out orange and black. They cut the sausage meat. *Please help with this one. I'm not sure what is going on with 'orange' and 'black.' February 13, 1872
Girls ironed. J carried home the ? and J rode up to E. M. S. But he was not at home. February 12, 1872
I helped wash some, got pretty tired. I went up and borrowed the force (pump?) and worked at getting the water. Got it at the corner but not in the cellar. February 11, 1872
Wm (William) drove the horses and Emma and Lillie and Abbie went. Baby staid with me in forenoon. Em come home at noon. They went home at night. I feel awful sad. February 10, 1872
Went down to Mr. Os a little while. Come home and found George and Lissa here. They spent the afternoon, went home. Wm and Em come, staid all night. *Lissa and George were daughter Melissa and her husband, George Nye *Em is daughter Emma dn her husband, William Nye It does appear that George and William Nye were brothers |
