Man come *Yesterday we read in Mary's diary that Lester Lloyd brought over a colored man for 'Father' to hire. Joe Roberts, great-great grandson of Lester Lloyd shared this photo of Thomas Jackson who worked for Lester Lloyd. The 'colored man' mentioned in Mary's diary could be this man, Thomas Jackson, or possibly a friend or relative of his. Thank you to Joe and Denise Roberts for sharing this! What a great find. The back of the photo says, "Thomas and Mary Jackson who worked for Lester Lloyd and went from there to serve in Civil War. Finally became a coachman in Washington. Said he'd skin himself alive if he could become white."
